Biography

Peter F. Hunt is Chairman and CEO of Hunt Real Estate Corporation. Under his leadership, Hunt Real Estate Corporation’s residential sales volume has risen to over $3.3 Billion. Since 1984, Mr. Hunt has founded Devere Mortgage Corporation, a licensed mortgage banking firm now doing business as “Hunt Mortgage”, Hunt Insurance Agency, a general insurance agency, Realty Express, a fee-for-service real estate brokerage, The Realty Club, a membership organization supplying homeownership services, Fisher Homes, a fine homes builder, and Revinre, LLC, revolutionizing the delivery of real estate services, and Hunt Property Solutions, a commercial property management company. In 1992, Mr. Hunt acquired a title agency and formed Network Title Agency of New York, and in 2003 acquired Hunt Commercial Real Estate Corporation. Hunt Real Estate expanded into Rochester in March 2001, Central and Northern New York in 2004 and the Capital Region and Phoenix Arizona in 2010 (where it now operates four branch offices as Hunt Real Estate ERA and two branch offices as Better Homes and Gardens Move Time Realty), Hunt Mortgage and a title agency joint venture in Phoenix, Arizona. The Residential Brokerage joined the ERA system in March, 2002, now operating a total of 54 residential sales offices in six Regions: Buffalo/Niagara; Rochester; Central and Northern New York; the Capital Region (NY); Massachusetts (as ERA Key Realty Services); and Phoenix, AZ. Hunt also operates four commercial offices, as Hunt Commercial Real Estate in New York State.

Mr. Hunt represents the third generation of family members who have continuously owned and operated the business since its founding in 1911, a family tradition now being continued into the fourth generation through his son, Charles, who is Executive Vice President and COO, and President—Residential Brokerage Buffalo Niagara Region.

Peter Hunt is a life-long resident of the Buffalo Niagara Region of New York State, where he is very active in the community currently serving as a trustee of the Albright Knox Art Gallery and the YMCA of Buffalo Niagara. Mr. Hunt and his wife, Mary Jo Hunt were recently named Western New York Philanthropists of the Year by the Alexis de Tocqueville Society of the United Way, and previously had been named “Citizens of the Year” by the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Foundation and received the “Volunteer Service Award” from President George W. Bush’s Council on Service and Civic Participation. Other honors include “Realtor of the Year” from the GBAR, “Executive of the Year” from the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the Buffalo Sales and Marketing Executives and Canisius College, “Lifetime Achievement Award” from the WNYSCAR and WNY “C-Level Executive” award from Business First. He is a graduate of Amherst Central High School and St. Lawrence University (BA in Government) where he now serves as a Trustee. Mr. Hunt was awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree in May, 2015 from Daemen College, where he served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Mr. Hunt is married with four children and six grandchildren.
